Validation of a New Immunoassay for Histamine in Fish versus the AOAC Official Method 977.13

Using ELISA technology, we developed an assay that allows the easy, quick and quantitative determination of histamine in seafood. This ELISA was evaluated against the AOAC Official Method 977.13 by an independent lab. The method was found to be fast and efficient with better repeatability than the Official AOAC Method and less risk of cross contamination or carry over between samples. A correlation of 0.9993 was obtained.
